Calibration ManagerKEN BRASLEY

Ken joined the Colonial Instruments team in 2011. His primary responsibilities are management of work flow in our shop and calibration of pressure and temperature instrumentation.

When product enters the door, it more than likely is headed to our shop for some type of additional value added service. We are not a “product in product out” type of operation. Sure we have orders like that, but most of the time there is additional work necessary to fulfill on the order before it’s ready to head to the shipping department.  Things like glycerine filling pressure gauges, dial changes, window swaps, adding front flanges, and tagging instruments, are just a few of the things that Ken does on a daily basis.

Diaphragm seal assembly and filling is another major responsibility for Ken. He must review each order and shop sketches, and build the proper assembly, vacuum fill each assembly and do the final pressure testing. He’s familiar with the required heating and stir settings for each fill fluid, to assure proper degassing, subsequently leading to a properly filled assembly.

Ken also works with customers on calibration and repair orders. We frequently have customers who drop off large quantities of instruments for annual calibration. Ken evaluates these and provides our customers with a clear, concise quotation of the cost of any instrument repair charges and calibration charges.

He’s an integral part of our team, is detail oriented and keeps things moving through our shop.
