TEMPERATURE CALIBRATION

Why calibrate process temperature sensors?

Because temperature effects the accuracy of a volumetric measurement, process manufacturers of chemical, pharmaceutical, food or petroleum products require accurate temperature measurements—especially for processes where quality or custody transfer are regulated by government agencies. Since all temperature sensors are subject to drift with time, regular calibration or verification against a reliable reference thermometer is required.

At Colonial Instruments we can help make sure that your thermometers and electrical temperature sensors are reading accurately.  Typical turnaround times run about 1 week, however We can offer expedited service, in some cases, same day turn around.

Our Metrology Lab utilizes Fluke Primary Reference Standards having  Accuracies of 0.05°C (0.09°F) across a Temperature Range of  -20°C to 300°C (-4°F to 572°F).

We implemented state of the art Fluke Model 6330 and Model 7320 Compact Temperature Calibration Baths with Stability and uniformity each better than ± 0.008 °C.

Our Fluke 1586A Super-DAQ Precision Temperature Scanner gives us best-in-class temperature measurement accuracy. It also allows for simultaneous testing of up to 40 isolated input channels for measuring RTDs, thermocouples, thermistors, dc Voltage, dc current, and resistance.

The Fluke “Stik” Thermometer is accurate, stable and durable, making is the best alternative to mercury thermometers and existing electronic thermometers. The thin-film RTD sensor and read our are fixed together and digitally mapped, calibrated as a system, and accurate to ± 0.05 °C over the full temperature range.

MISSION STATEMENT

We take the time, when an instrument is sent in for calibration, to clean up the instrument (remove an Teflon tape from connections, wire brush any debris from pressure connections, do a general cleaning of the instrument, including case and window, etc.) All of this is included in the calibration charge. On analog thermometers we do a minimum 3 point calibration certificate traceable to NIST or equivalent SI unit. We also offer temperature calibration on thermocouples, RTD sensors and temperature transmitters. We have HART capabilities to scale or custom configure transmitters with HART communication protocol.

We provide both re-calibration of existing instruments and calibration on new instruments. Since we stock a wide variety of temperature instruments and thermowells, we can offer in stock options for customers that may need a fast delivery. Give us a call anytime with any questions or inquiries that you may have. One of our experienced calibration technicians or sales persons would be happy to help.
